Warehouse General Assistant

As a General Assistant in our wine distribution team, you will support daily warehouse operations including packing, preparing, and dispatching wine orders, maintaining stock accuracy, and assisting with safe handling of products to ensure timely delivery to our customers. This role is hands-on and ideal for someone reliable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Order Preparation & Packing

• Accurately pick and pack wine orders according to delivery or dispatch schedules.

• Ensure packaging meets quality and safety standards to prevent breakage or damage during transportation. 

Dispatch & Delivery Support

• Prepare orders for dispatch and coordinate with drivers or logistics partners.

• Assist with loading and unloading stock for deliveries.

• Ensure order paperwork is complete and accurate before dispatch. 

Warehouse Operations

• Help organize, rotate, and store products in designated areas within the warehouse.

• Perform regular inventory counts and report discrepancies.

• Maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment. 

Stock & Equipment Handling

• Support stock movement and put-away procedures.

• Use warehouse equipment responsibly (e.g., pallet jacks, hand scanners; forklift experience beneficial, if applicable). 

Health & Safety

• Adhere to all health, safety, and quality control procedures.

• Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor. 

Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum education: Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent 

• Previous warehouse, logistics, or packing experience.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order handling.

• Ability to lift and handle wine cases safely. 

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Able to work in a physically active environment and adapt to shifting priorities.

Preferred (but not required)

• Forklift license 

Working Conditions

• Warehouse environment with regular handling of products and equipment.

• May require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

• Flexibility to work early mornings or occasional extended hours during busy periods.
