We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Commis Chef to assist with food preparation and support the kitchen team in delivering high-quality dishes that delight guests. Attention to detail, care, and consistency are essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all food items according to established recipes and standards
  • Assist with deliveries and proper storage of ingredients
  • Complete daily mise-en-place checks to ensure freshness and quality
  • Maintain correct stock rotation and portion control
  • Have a thorough knowledge of menu items, daily features, and promotions
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • Adhere to kitchen procedures and service standards
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations when handling food and beverages

Requirements

  • Culinary Diploma or Certificate
  • Preferably 1–2 years’ experience as a Commis Chef in a 5-star or high-end restaurant environment
  • Availability to work within operational hours
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Productive, efficient, and self-disciplined
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Flexible, accountable, and reliable
  • Must be SA citizen
  • Must reside in Stellenbosch OR have own reliable transport
