Our client, a successful merchant in the global wine trade, is looking to appoint a sales Manager to the growing team of dynamic professionals.

The goal of this appointment is aimed at supporting the growth of the customer base with both strategic and execution expertise. You will have an in-depth knowledge of winemaking & wines, positive attitude towards life, ability to deal with diverse customers/suppliers, exceptional interpersonal & communication skills, strong organizational skills, negotiation skills & an understanding of wine export procedures.

In addition to the duties below, you will be required to attend wine exhibitions & shows and be comfortable, and able, to prepare & run presentations.

You will be required to:

  • Manage existing customer base & grow new customers
  • Manage logistics from placing order to delivery & payment
  • Set & agree sales targets
  • Weekly sales reporting
  • Set & agree annual expense budget
  • Arrange & manage international wine exhibitions, tastings & shows
  • Maintain regular contact & face time with customers
  • Maintain relationships with wine estates & service providers
  • Remain up to date on new products, latest vintages & trends in wine industry – locally & overseas

Preferred requirements

  • Graduate, B Degree, Formal Wine Qualification, min WSET level 2 and/or winemaker


The position is onsite and based in the Cape Town CBD. You will require your own transport, valid passport and the ability to travel globally.
