Breede River Valley Bottling (BBK) specializes in the bottling and packaging of wine and other beverages and currently has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Winemaker/Planner, available to form part of its dynamic team.
Reporting to the Manager: Planning and Wine Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Managing compliance and quality of wine by coordinating tasks regarding wine services, sampling and analyses and daily final approval of product for bottling
- Identify, calculate and execute/supervise wine additions, in time for scheduled bottling
- Responsible for the drafting of a feasible and efficient bottling schedule and product intake at the Cellar
- Coordination of all client requests and liaising with internal departments on feasibility
- Accurate record-keeping of actual weekly production volumes
- Effective and active communication with customers; including the interpretation of results, arranging of pre-bottling tastings and gathering final approval of analyses
- Stock monitoring – recordkeeping and stock reconciliation of all wine additives and wine losses
- Ensure overall compliance to Food Safety Standards and related Legislation and implementing and maintaining measures for prevention of cross- and/or allergen contamination
Successful candidates need to align to the following requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Viticulture & Oenology or similar qualification
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in a Cellar environment
- Knowledge of Food Safety and HACCP requirements
- Attention to detail, excellent administration skills and ability to manage stock keeping process
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Agility and ability to prioritize effectively
- Supervisory experience
- Operational knowledge of blending and stabilization of wine
