An exceptional and highly selective opportunity exists for a seasoned Sous Chef to join the culinary leadership team of an internationally recognised luxury wine estate restaurant in Stellenbosch.
This role is suited to a refined, disciplined and detail-driven chef who thrives in an elite kitchen environment where consistency, precision and excellence are non-negotiable. Working alongside the Head Chef, you will help shape daily operations, mentor the brigade and uphold world-class culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring seamless service
- Supervise, train and develop the chef brigade to luxury dining standards
- Oversee all food preparation, plating and presentation
- Ensure every dish meets exacting standards for quality, temperature and consistency
- Assist with menu creation and refinement
- Manage stock control, ordering, FIFO rotation and waste reduction
- Maintain strict health, hygiene and safety compliance
- Coordinate rosters, leave planning and kitchen organisation
- Align the team with daily reservations, events and bespoke menu requirements
Requirements
- Culinary Diploma
- ±4 years’ experience in a senior kitchen role (Sous Chef / Senior CDP)
- Proven leadership within a high-end or fine-dining environment
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and people-management abilities
- Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Own transport and valid driver’s licence
- Availability for evenings, weekends and public holidays
- South African citizens only
