My Client is an integrated producer, packer, processor, exporter and importer of fresh fruit, vegetables and nuts. Their mission is to grow, prepare and supply healthy and beautiful South African produce to the rest of the world.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The successful candidate will manage all aspects of raspberry and blackberry production within the  Group’s berry division. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Production Manager will be responsible for daily farm operations, leading substantial seasonal teams, and ensuring the highest standards of yield, quality, and operational efficiency throughout the production value chain.

This role involves close collaboration with the nursery, production, and packhouse teams, ensuring seamless alignment from the selection of plant material through to the packing and dispatch stages. Additionally, the incumbent will be introduced to budgeting processes, cost management, and commercial planning, supporting the division’s expansion and contributing to its sustained growth.

KEY RESULT AREAS

• Operational & Production Management

o Responsible for the complete management of raspberry and blackberry production activities.

• People Leadership

o Leads teams of up to 100 employees across farm and packhouse operations during peak seasons.

• Integrated Operations

o Works in close coordination with the nursery and plant material teams.

• Compliance & Quality Management

o Ensures that all operations comply with GlobalG.A.P. SIZA, and retailer standards.

• Commercial & Financial Exposure

o Participates in budgeting and cost control within the production function.

• Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

o Engages professionally with customers, auditors, and visitors to the operation.

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential

Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Agricultural Management, Plant Production, or a related field.

Advantageous

Experience in raspberry or blackberry production is a strong advantage.

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Demonstrated leadership and people management abilities.
