An exciting opportunity for a passionate and detail-oriented Commis Chef to join a luxury culinary team within a high-end lodge environment. This role is ideal for a developing chef who is eager to refine their skills, contribute to exceptional dining experiences, and grow within a world-class kitchen known for its standards of excellence and creativity.

Minimum Requirements

  • Completed cookery traineeship or relevant culinary qualification
  • Formal Food Safety certification (HACCP or equivalent)
  • 1–2 years’ experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • Basic understanding of food preparation, mise-en-place, and kitchen operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain high-quality mise-en-place in line with the standards set by the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of dishes, ensuring consistency and attention to detail
  • Follow established recipes, techniques, and plating guidelines to uphold culinary standards
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times
  • Ensure all ingredients are stored, handled, and labelled correctly in line with food safety standards
  • Support senior chefs in daily kitchen operations and service periods
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations and kitchen areas
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn, grow, and take direction within a high-performance kitchen environment

Competencies & Skills

  • Good command of English (spoken and understood)
  • Strong foundational knife skills and basic culinary techniques
  • Knowledge of herbs, spices, and ingredient pairings
  • Understanding of food costing, portion control, and minimising wastage
  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic Microsoft Excel (advantageous)
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced, high-standard environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Well-presented with professional conduct and sober habits
  • Basic understanding of Food & Beverage service standards
