Jordan Wine Estate is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Cellar Door Manager to join the team at The Cellar Door, our relaxed eatery and wine tasting facility.
This position would suit someone who enjoys wine, hospitality, people, and working in a beautiful estate environment. The role involves supporting the day-to-day running of The Cellar Door, helping to create memorable guest experiences through wine tastings, food service, wine sales, tours, picnics, and private events.
The ideal candidate is positive, organised, hands-on, and enjoys being part of a team. We are looking for someone who communicates well, stays calm during busy service periods, and takes pride in offering warm, professional hospitality.
Key responsibilities include:
Guest experience
Welcome guests, present wine tastings, check in on food experiences, share information about Jordan wines and the Estate, and assist with guest queries in a friendly and professional manner.
Daily operations
Assist with the smooth daily running of The Cellar Door, including opening and closing procedures, service flow, guest bookings, tours, picnics, and special experiences.
Stock and administration
Assist with daily cash-up, till balancing, stock control, ordering, POS updates, pricing, and menu or beverage changes.
Wine sales
Support wine sales, private orders, courier arrangements, and customer follow-up to ensure orders are handled efficiently.
Team support
Assist with staff rosters, uniforms, team organisation, and maintaining a positive and professional working environment.
Events and estate activities
Assist with special offerings, private functions, conferences, wine tastings, wine club events, and occasional off-site or after-hours promotional activities.
Guest feedback
Share useful guest feedback and preferences with the CRM Manager to help improve guest relationships and return visits.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in hospitality, wine tasting, restaurants, hotels, or a similar guest-facing environment.
- Previous supervisory or management experience would be advantageous.
- A formal wine qualification such as WSET or Cape Wine Academy would be beneficial, but a strong interest in wine and willingness to learn is also valued.
- Good communication skills and a positive, guest-focused attitude.
- Good computer literacy, including MS Office and POS experience.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organised during busy periods.
- Own reliable transport is required.
