An established, high-end wine estate in Stellenbosch is seeking a dynamic and experienced Farm Manager to lead all agricultural operations across vineyards, gardens, and broader estate land. This is a senior leadership role suited to a candidate passionate about regenerative farming, sustainability, and premium estate standards.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will take full responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the farm. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, ensuring alignment between viticulture, landscaping, and conservation, while driving innovation in sustainable land stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day farm operations, including vineyards, gardens, and agricultural areas
  • Oversee vineyard practices (soil health, irrigation, pest and disease control, harvest planning) aligned with wine quality objectives
  • Implement and advance regenerative farming practices (cover cropping, composting, low-input systems)
  • Drive conservation initiatives, including biodiversity, water management, and habitat restoration
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on sustainability and environmental projects
  • Contribute to long-term planning, budgeting, and reporting on operational and sustainability metrics

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in farm or vineyard management (regenerative/organic exposure advantageous)
  • Strong knowledge of sustainable agriculture, soil health, and climate-adaptive practices
  • Proven experience managing multiple teams or departments
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to balance hands-on execution and strategic oversight
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Agriculture, Viticulture, Environmental Science, or similar
  • Experience with gardens & landscaping will be advantageous
