Habata, one of SA’s leading producers of fresh fruit and vegetables, based in Robertson, is seeking a passionate and driven individual with strong people and management skills to join their team as Head of Production (Table Grapes).
The successful candidate will have a structured, analytical production approach to various varieties of table grape cultivars and be able to perform accurately under pressure, especially during peak harvest periods.
The incumbent will report to Top Management and be responsible for: *Overseeing all table grape production operations on the farm (170 hectares) *Managing production processes to ensure optimal yield and quality *Implementing and maintaining strict quality control standards in line with export requirements *Managing water usage and overseeing irrigation systems to ensure efficient and optimal crop performance *Overseeing maintenance of infrastructure, orchards, and equipment *Managing and developing personnel across production teams *Ensuring accurate recordkeeping and reporting *Liaising and working directly with marketers, exporters, and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment, market access, and long-term relationship management *Performing all other tasks related to the role.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
- A relevant tertiary qualification (Degree in Agriculture or related field);
- Minimum of 6-8 years’ relevant experience in table grape production or a similar agricultural environment;
- Strong knowledge of table grape production practices and quality standards for local and export markets;
- Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English).
