Klein Alto is a beautifully restored, wine-country restaurant nestled on the Helderberg slopes — and we're looking for a passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen with heart and creativity.
You'll craft seasonal menus using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, designed to complement our award-winning wines. From intimate Date Night dinners to our beloved Sunset Rouge evenings, your food will be at the centre of truly memorable experiences.
What you'll be doing:
●Developing and executing seasonal and specialty menus (tasting menus, canapé pairings, event menus).
●Leading and mentoring a kitchen team of 6–12.
●Collaborating with our winemaker and tasting room team to create cohesive food and wine experiences.
●Managing food costs, supplier relationships, and kitchen operations.
●Upholding HACCP standards and a high-performance kitchen culture
What we're looking for:
●5–10 years of progressive kitchen experience, ideally in fine dining or a wine estate setting
●Strong seasonal menu development and wine pairing knowledge
●A natural leader who builds positive, motivated teams
●Solid operational skills — costing, inventory, and supplier management
●A culinary diploma is preferred, though proven experience is equally valued
