Cavalli Wine Estate, based in Stellenbosch, is seeking an experienced and passionate Farm Manager to lead all viticultural, agricultural, and conservation operations across the estate. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for vineyards, gardens, and farm areas, with a strong focus on regenerative farming, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director and will gain hands-on exposure with the Winemaker and Infrastructure Manager.
Duties will include (but not limited to): *Oversee all farm, vineyard, and garden operations across the estate *Manage and lead farm, vineyard, and garden teams, ensuring productivity, safety, and performance *Drive regenerative viticulture practices including soil health, composting, cover cropping, and low-input farming *Manage irrigation, pruning, pest and disease control, and harvest operations *Collaborate with winemaking team to align vineyard practices with wine quality goals *Oversee estate gardens and landscaping, ensuring high aesthetic and horticultural standards *Lead conservation initiatives including biodiversity enhancement, water conservation, and habitat restoration *Promote sustainability across all operations, including waste, energy, and resource management *Contribute to long-term land use planning and manage departmental budgets *Provide operational and sustainability reports to senior management *All other tasks related to the role.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in vineyard or farm management;
- Strong knowledge of regenerative or sustainable agriculture;
- Proven leadership of multiple teams or departments;
- Tertiary qualification in Viticulture, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or related field;
- Strong organisational, communication, and planning skills;
- Ability to balance hands-on fieldwork with strategic oversight.
