Babylonstoren is looking for a dedicated and hardworking Cellar Assistant to join our cellar team.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting daily cellar operations, ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency, and cleanliness throughout the winemaking process.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about wine production and eager to develop their skills.
Minimum requirements:
- Grade 12
- 2–3 years’ relevant experience in a cellar environment
- Own transport
- Valid forklift licence will be to your advantage
- SKOP 1, 2 and 3 will be to your advantage
- Good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the winemaking process
- Willingness to work overtime, night shift and over weekends when operationally required
Duties:
- Assist with all wine cellar activities, including grape intake, crushing, pressing, fermentation management, wine transfers, filtration, blending, and bottling preparations.
- Perform routine cellar operations such as pump-overs, punch-downs, racking, barrel work, tank cleaning, and equipment sanitation.
- Prepare, clean, maintain, and store cellar equipment, tanks, hoses, pumps, and tools according to cellar protocols.
