Our client, a well-established agricultural operation with two farms in the Western Cape, is seeking to appoint an experienced and results-driven Farm Manager to oversee a 100-hectare deciduous fruit farm situated between GREYTON and VILLIERSDORP.
This key leadership position is responsible for managing approximately 70 permanent employees and up to 170 seasonal employees during peak production periods.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Production and Operations Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant post-matric qualification, preferably a Diploma or Degree in Agriculture
- 10-15 years' proven experience in apple and/or pear production
- Strong managerial and leadership abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong planning, organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of production outcomes
- Sound knowledge of SIZA and GlobalG.A.P. standards
- General mechanical knowledge
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- MB4000 Farm Trace experience will be advantageous

- Orchard establishment and soil preparation
- Grafting and tree development programmes
- Tree training, pruning and canopy management
- Fruit thinning and crop load management
- Harvest planning, execution and pre-sorting operations
- Irrigation management and water resource optimization
- Fertilization and nutrition programmes
- Pollination management
- Pest, disease and integrated crop protection programmes
- Weed control and orchard floor management
- Occupational health, hygiene and safety compliance
- Farm equipment and asset management
- Fuel and electricity consumption management
- Human resource management, training and discipline
- Fleet, transport and logistics management
- Building, housing and infrastructure maintenance
- Farm security and risk management
- General farm administration and operational management
