Robertson Winery has an exciting career opportunity for a Laboratory Manager to join their team based in Robertson (Western Cape).
The ideal candidate is a technically strong laboratory professional with excellent leadership skills, paired with strong analytical and problem-solving ability, exceptional attention to detail, and sound decision-making capabilities.
The successful candidate will report to the Quality Manager. KPI’s will include (but not be limited to): *Laboratory Operations and Technical Management: Leading laboratory operations, chemistry and microbiology testing, and technical support; Reviewing laboratory results, investigating deviations, and ensuring testing quality; Managing laboratory resources, equipment, budgets, inventories, and operational efficiency. *Laboratory Quality Management System and SANAS Accreditation: Maintaining and continuously improving the ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory QMS; Ensure compliance with SANAS accreditation requirements; Acting as the laboratory's SANAS liaison while maintaining laboratory quality documentation, procedures, and test methods; Coordinating audits, investigations, management reviews, and continual improvement activities. *Quality, Food Safety and Operational Support: Supporting product quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, and customer requirements; Driving root cause investigations and corrective actions; Ensuring Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), laboratory safety and PPE compliance.*People Leadership, Reporting and Continuous Improvement: Leading, developing, and managing the laboratory team; Planning staffing requirements; Compiling laboratory performance reports, quality trend analyses, and improvement initiatives.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
- BSc Degree or National Diploma in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related scientific field;
- Minimum 5 years' laboratory experience, with at least 2 years’ in a supervisory or managerial role;
- Excellent verbal, written, and report-writing skills (Afrikaans and English);
- Excellent computer literacy (MS Office).
