About the Role
Muratie Wine Estate is seeking an experienced, passionate and hands-on Hospitality Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our hospitality division. This role is responsible for ensuring exceptional guest experiences across the Tasting Room, Farm Kitchen, Guesthouse and Events, while maintaining the highest standards of service, operational efficiency and team performance.
The ideal candidate is an energetic hospitality professional with strong leadership skills, a passion for wine, food and tourism, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management

Oversee the daily operations of the Tasting Room, Farm Kitchen, Guesthouse and Events department.

Ensure all departments operate efficiently and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and service throughout the estate.

Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency across all hospitality areas.

Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements where necessary.
Guest Experience

Deliver exceptional customer service and create memorable guest experiences.

Resolve guest complaints professionally and promptly.

Build relationships with returning guests, tour operators, travel agents and corporate clients.

Ensure all guest interactions reflect the Muratie brand and values.
Team Leadership

Recruit, train, mentor and manage hospitality staff.

Prepare staff schedules and manage labour costs effectively.
-
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching.

Foster a positive, motivated and service-driven team culture.
Financial & Administrative Management

Manage departmental budgets and control operating costs.
-
Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to increase revenue.

Oversee stock control, ordering and inventory management across departments.

Ensure accurate reporting of daily sales and operational performance.

Work closely with finance on reconciliations and cost management.
Events & Functions
-
Coordinate the operational execution of weddings, corporate events, festivals and private functions.

Work closely with clients to ensure seamless event delivery.

Coordinate with chefs, suppliers and operational teams before, during and after events.
Guesthouse Management
-
Oversee reservations, guest arrivals and departures.

Ensure rooms are maintained to the highest standards.

Coordinate housekeeping and maintenance requirements.
Health, Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Maintain food safety and hygiene standards.

Ensure licensing and legal hospitality requirements are met.
Marketing & Sales Support

Collaborate with the marketing team to promote hospitality offerings.

Assist with the development of seasonal experiences and special events.

Identify opportunities to enhance guest experiences and grow revenue.
Requirements
-
Minimum 5 years' hospitality management experience, preferably within a wine estate, luxury hospitality, hotel or restaurant environment.

Proven experience managing multiple hospitality departments simultaneously.

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Excellent organisational and time management abilities.

Exceptional customer service and communication skills.

Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and operational costs.

Experience with reservations, POS systems and hospitality management software.

Ability to work weekends, public holidays and flexible hours as required by the hospitality industry.

Valid driver's license and own reliable transport.
Preferred Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Tourism or a related field.

Wine knowledge (WSET, Cape Wine Academy or equivalent) would be advantageous.

Event management experience is highly desirable.
