Our client, situated in Grabouw is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operational Manager to oversee and optimise all operational, production, maintenance, and logistical activities within our distillery operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining high-quality standards, managing operational resources, and leading a high-performing team to achieve production and business objectives. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical knowledge, planning capabilities, and problem-solving skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not be limited to): *Distillation & Production Management: Lead all distillation and production operations, ensuring product quality, operational efficiency, target achievement, and resolution of production challenges. *Operational Planning & Coordination: Manage and coordinate boiler operations, wine intake, distillation schedules, barrel ageing, and water systems to ensure smooth and efficient production. *Maintenance Management: Oversee the Repairs & Maintenance function, including maintenance planning, preventative maintenance, and identification of equipment and operational requirements. *People Management & Compliance: Manage and support the day-to-day performance of the operations team while ensuring compliance with statutory, safety, and ISO requirements. *All other tasks related to the position.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Diploma in Production Management, Oenology or a related field;
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a production, manufacturing, distillery, winery, beverage, food processing, or similar environment;
  • Strong understanding of production processes;
  • Knowledge of occupational health & safety regulations and ISO 22000;
  • Understanding of production equipment, machinery, and maintenance;
  • Valid driver's license & own reliable transport.
