PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Blaauwklippen is looking for a hands-on and organised Farmhouse Deli & Market Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of the Market and Farmhouse Deli offering. This is a supervisory role, reporting to the Head of Department and working closely with another Supervisor to ensure that both areas run smoothly, professionally and in line with Blaauwklippen’s standards.

The purpose of this role is to assist with daily operations, guest service, stock control, procurement administration, supplier follow-up and general coordination across the Market and Farmhouse Deli. The successful person must be reliable, detail-focused, administratively strong and comfortable working in a busy guest-facing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily Operations Support

  • Assist the HOD and fellow Supervisor with the smooth daily running of the Market and Farmhouse Deli.
  • Support opening, closing, setup, service flow and general operational readiness.
  • Monitor service areas, stock levels, displays, cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Assist with weekend, event and peak-period operational requirements.
  • Escalate operational issues to the HOD where required.
  • Supervise and train employees.

Administration & Procurement

  • Handle day-to-day administrative tasks accurately and timeously.
  • Assist with procurement processes, including supplier quotes, purchase requests, orders and follow-ups.
  • Maintain records relating to stock, suppliers, pricing, deliveries, invoices and internal approvals.
  • Support stock control, stock takes, variance checks and replenishment planning.
  • Ensure filing, documentation and communication are kept organised and up to date.

Guest Experience & Service Standards

  • Assist in delivering a friendly, professional and consistent guest experience.
  • Support the team in maintaining high standards of service, housekeeping and presentation.
  • Respond to guest queries and assist with basic issue resolution, escalating where needed.

Market, Deli & Supplier Support

  • Assist with vendor and supplier communication, coordination and follow-up.
  • Support the setup and operational flow of the Market and Farmhouse Deli.
  • Help monitor vendor standards, product availability and overall shopping experience.
  • Assist with simple activations, seasonal preparations and operational requirements for busy periods.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • The Market and Farmhouse Deli operate smoothly and are well presented.
  • Administrative tasks, procurement follow-ups and records are accurate and up to date.
  • Stock levels, supplier communication and operational requirements are well coordinated.
  • Guests, vendors and internal team members experience professional and helpful support.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in hospitality, retail, food service, market operations, administration or procurement support.
  • Supervisory or team coordination experience – 2+ years.
  • Strong administration skills, attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records.
  • Experience with stock control, supplier communication, purchase orders or procurement processes will be advantageous.
  • Tech savvy with good working knowledge of MS Office, Excel and email communication.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, after hours and shifts in line with operational requirements.
  • Driver’s license and own reliable transport will be advantageous.
  • Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English.
  • Excellent South African citizen.
  • Clear criminal record.

Advantageous:

  • Relevant qualification in hospitality, retail, business administration or procurement will be advantageous.
