Vineyard Supervisor

Rickety Bridge Estate is seeking a hands-on, motivated, and detail-oriented Vineyard Supervisor to join our farming team. This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for vineyard operations and agricultural best practices, who thrives in a practical supervisory environment and is committed to maintaining high standards across all farm activities.

Department: Maintenance Hospitality & Direct-to-Consumer (DTC)
Reports to: Viticulturist/Winemaker
Type: Full-time, On-site

Key Responsibilities

Vineyard Operations

• Supervise and participate in daily vineyard activities including pruning, suckering, skoffeling, and canopy management.
• Monitor vineyards for pests, diseases, weeds, and general crop health.
• Identify and report maintenance issues such as broken irrigation lines, wires, and infrastructure.
• Assist with spraying, fertilizer applications, stock control, and tractor operations when required.
• Support harvest activities, including transport and logistics.

Farm Maintenance

• Oversee the maintenance of farm roads, fences, waterways, dams, and irrigation systems.
• Conduct and record daily water checks.
• Monitor water quality and ensure adequate water levels across the farm.

Equipment & Workshop Management

• Ensure tractors and farming equipment are properly maintained, cleaned, and serviced according to schedules.
• Monitor fuel, oil, and spare parts stock levels.
• Report equipment faults and coordinate repairs where necessary.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the workshop and shed areas.

Compliance & Administration

• Maintain accurate farm records and checklists.
• Assist with compliance requirements, including WIETA and Integrated Production standards.
• Manage training registers, health and safety documentation, and chemical/fertilizer delivery records.
• Collect and submit employee medical certificates and related documentation.

Minimum Requirements

• Previous experience in vineyard, agricultural, or farm supervision.
• Knowledge of vineyard practices, crop care, irrigation, and farm maintenance.
• Ability to operate or supervise the operation of tractors and agricultural equipment.
• Good leadership and team management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Basic administrative and record-keeping skills.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Willingness to work outdoors and during peak agricultural seasons when required.
