Lanzerac Estate is looking for a versatile and skilled chef who can work in multiple kitchen sections as needed. This role requires flexibility, strong technical skills, and the ability to step into any culinary station—whether it's the grill, sauce, pastry, or garde manager.

Remuneration will be market-related.

Reports to: Head Chef

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication in English.
  • Proficiency with computers and computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good record of kitchen management at a similar establishment
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
  • Capable of delegating multiple tasks
  • Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
  • Ability to interact positively with supervisor, management, coworkers, members, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive and professional approach.
  • Ability to produce a high volume of work promptly, which is accurate, complete, and of high quality.
  • Ability to come to work regularly and on time, follow directions, take criticism, get along with co-workers and supervisors, treat co-workers, supervisors, and members/guests with respect and courtesy, and refrain from abusive, insubordinate, and/or violent behavior.
  • Ability to work long hours, under high pressure, and physically demanding at times.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all kitchen operations and stations assigned adhere to Company Policies, Procedures, and Culinary Standards.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to maintain consistent food quality across all sections.
  • Depending on operational needs, support multiple kitchen stations, including hot, cold, pastry, and grill.
  • Ensure all food items are correctly received, stored (including temperature monitoring), and rotated in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization in all work areas, regardless of the station.
  • Always uphold strict food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Step in for chefs off duty, ensuring continuity and smooth workflow in the kitchen.
  • Bring creativity, flexibility, and strong culinary knowledge to each section you work in while ensuring efficiency under pressure.

Summary:

  • Must have own transportation.
  • Must be able to work shifts, including public holidays and weekends.
  • Managerial skills will be a bonus.
