Franschhoek 
An established Franschhoek wine producer is looking for a confident, reliable part-time assistant to support its tasting room and direct-to-consumer business.
This role would suit a student or young wine professional with a genuine interest in wine, hospitality and customer engagement who wants practical experience in a working wine business.
Location: Franschhoek
Start: Immediately
Hours: Friday afternoons and Saturdays
Remuneration: To be discussed based on experience
Availability required:
Friday and Saturdays, starting immediately.
The position will initially run on a part-time basis during the academic year, with the opportunity to review and potentially expand the role once the university/college year ends.
The role includes:
- Hosting wine tastings and engaging with local and international guests
- Learning and confidently presenting the winery’s wines and stories
- Assisting with tasting-room service and wine sales
- Working with a point-of-sale/customer database system
- Identifying guests who may be suited to the winery’s membership programme
- Supporting busy Friday/Saturday service periods and selected events
We are looking for someone who is:
- Confident, articulate and comfortable speaking to people
- Reliable and able to work independently once trained
- Genuinely interested in wine
- Comfortable learning sales and customer-management systems
- Professional but not stiff or overly formal
- Available consistently on Friday afternoons and Saturdays
- Able to arrange reliable transport to and from Franschhoek
Students studying Viticulture & Oenology, Cellar Technology, Wine Business, Marketing, Hospitality or a related fieldare encouraged to apply. Prior tasting-room experience is useful but not essential; attitude, confidence and willingness to learn are more important.
