PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Blaauwklippen is looking for a customer-focused and hands-on Barman to join our Tasting House team. This role is central to delivering a warm, professional and high-quality beverage experience to our guests, Wine Ambassadors and waitering staff.

The purpose of this role is to prepare and serve wines, coffees and other beverages to a consistently high standard, while supporting the broader restaurant and tasting operations to ensure a seamless guest experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and serve beverages from the back of the Tasting House, including wines, drinks, coffees and other hot beverages, in line with company standards.
• Prepare high-quality coffees and hot beverages consistently, efficiently and professionally.
• Open, prepare and assist with the service of wines and other beverages for Wine Ambassadors, Waitering staff and Guests as required.
• Support restaurant and tasting operations by assisting with beverage orders, wine service, waitering and general service duties when needed.
• Provide friendly, professional internal and external customer service while maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues, guests and service teams.
• Maintain a clean, organised, hygienic and well-stocked beverage preparation area.
• Be physically able and willing to carry out the manual requirements of the role, including lifting, carrying and moving crates, bottles, boxes, stock, supplies, umbrellas and tables, as well as assisting with setup, clearing and stock replenishment.
• Follow all relevant health, safety, hygiene and responsible service standards.
• Assist with any reasonable duties required within the Tasting House or restaurant environment and uphold the company’s code of conduct, vision, purpose, values and service standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a bartending, barista or food and beverage service environment preferred.
• A bartending, barista or responsible alcohol service certification will be advantageous.
• Physically fit and able to perform the manual requirements of the role, including lifting and carrying stock.
• Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, after hours and shifts in line with operational requirements.
• South African citizen.
• Clear criminal record.
