Are you a hands-on hospitality leader who loves the buzz of service and the detail behind it? We are looking for a Duty Manager to lead our day-to-day guest and dining experience, and to take full charge of the property when the General Manager is away.
Blaauwklippen, established in 1682, is one of Stellenbosch’s oldest wine estates. The Manor House & Jonkershuis by Newmark is our boutique heritage hotel, where guests are hosted as if in a private home. Our service philosophy is simple: Calm, Confident, Warm, Precise.
What you’ll do
- Host guests personally, from arrival and check-in to departure, and resolve any issue calmly and quickly
- Lead the restaurant and bar teams to a consistent 4- and 5-star standard
- Run daily briefings, walk-throughs and handovers so every department is ready for service
- Coach and train waitrons, bar staff and front-of-house teams
- Drive upselling, monitor guest reviews, and act on feedback the same day
- Oversee POS and Opera postings, stock takes and food and beverage costs
What you’ll bring
- A hospitality qualification or equivalent
- 3–5 years’ experience in a 4- or 5-star hotel, including supervisory experience
- Strong restaurant and bar management experience
- Opera PMS, POS and MS Office skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and peak periods
- Own transport; Stellenbosch-based candidates preferred
What we offer
- A market-related salary [and benefits]
- Training and development within the Newmark Hotels group
- The chance to work on a historic Stellenbosch wine estate
