Packhouse Manager & Market Coordinator - Fruit Industry - Porterville

An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic and results driven candidate to join the team in Porterville. 

PACKHOUSE MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL

Duties will include but not limited to:

Cold store:

• Management of Cold Room for Fruit Refrigeration (Grapes, blueberries, stone fruits)
• Management of Personnel
• Appointment and management of staff in and out of season of cold rooms
• Logistics, Intake & Dispatch of Stock & Temperature Control of Fruit
• Management of Paltrack software.
• IT, server backup – some IT experience would be beneficial.
• Admin / Finance of cold room business
• Maintenance of premises
• Experience in MS Outlook and Paltrack.
• Day to day and long-term planning of Cold Rooms.
• Handles all logistical planning with fruit exports. (Intake and dispatching)
• Handle stock recordings of cold storage with the assistance of Paltrack system.
• Daily interaction with customers and product
• Investigate, analyze, report, and resolve problems arising in the packhouse data
• Ensure effective stock control practices is applied to minimize stockpiling and ageing of stock
• Conduct monthly and quarterly performance reviews
• General administration
• Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.

• Communicate and drive production efficiencies and achievement of production targets.

• Responsible for the execution of pack plans in the most efficient and effective way.

Soft Fruit Packhouse Manager

• Management of Blueberry cold store.
• Daily order confirmation for packaging from Exporters.
• Coordination with farms to forward stock according to packing orders for day/week.
• Managing of packing material stock for daily orders.
• Manage fruit stock required for orders.
• Manage grade out.
• Experience with blueberry optical sorters beneficial.
• Daily management of fruit orders to be consigned daily.

  Marketing Coordinator:

• Communicate with Farms and Customers regarding pricing and availability of fruit.
• Weekly discussion with farms on what orders to be packed.
• Weekly commercial reporting and stock reporting (Data management).

Qualifications & Experience:

• A relevant agricultural degree or diploma
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar position
