Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate, situated on the picturesque Stellenbosch Wine Route, seeks an experienced Sales Manager with excellent negotiation and relationship-building expertise to build and drive sales in their premium wine portfolio.

The successful candidate will serve as the face of Vergenoegd Löw’s sales team, delivering exceptional customer service at every touchpoint, and work closely with the marketing team to maximise sales effectiveness by providing market intelligence to inform marketing strategies and campaigns. The role requires a strong ability to manage day-to-day sales and trade marketing activities, whilst developing long-term sales and trade marketing strategies for the South African market.

Responsibilities will include: *Driving National Sales: Working towards sales targets and driving growth across all regions in collaboration with third-party distributors and appointed agents, developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy, providing forecasts & reports, expanding and strengthening the loyalty program, building strong relationships with corporate clients, optimising sales on third-party e-commerce platforms. *Personnel Management: Lead the recruitment, appointment, and management of sales personnel in collaboration with the MD and Marketing, identifying and partnering with key regional partners, collaborating with third-party distributors and agent sales teams, providing training and orientation on the brand, conducting performance reviews for direct employees. *Ensure Supply and Demand Alignment: Collaborating with the production team, maintaining oversight of brand promotions and activities, driving demand generation strategies, monitoring regional sales trends. *Market and Advertise Products: ensure brand consistency across all marketing and sales touchpoints, collaborating with executives to explore new market opportunities and expand customer reach. *Customer Service: fostering relationships with distributors, trade partners, and direct clients, conducting client visits, leading National Key Account (NKA) discussions and negotiations, securing premium listings and strategic accounts.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Approximately 5 years’ experience in a similar role in the wine industry;
  • A proven track record in sales leadership with premium wines;
  • Excellent technical wine knowledge to conduct independent tastings and speak confidently;
  • Strong understanding of modern sales tools and current market trends;
  • Strong interpersonal & presentation skills;
  • Excellent computer literacy (MS Office & relevant sales/distribution platforms).
