A growing beverage distribution company with operations in South Africa, Kenya and Zambia seeks an experienced full-time Bookkeeper to manage the books of the Zambian entity, lead debtor management for the Kenyan branch and fulfill some Group reporting functions.
Excellent organizational and inter-personal skills are essential, along with the ability to work with different currencies and maintain a high degree of accuracy. The role can be conducted through a combination of remote and in-office work.
Zambia
Management of Books
- Bring stock into the books and update the Landed Cost Calculator when necessary
- All invoicing and POs
- Month end payments for local vendors
- Consignment stock recons and invoicing
- Manage data on accounting system (Palladium) - price lists, new vendors and customers, inventory reporting, stock management queries and recons
- Send statements and debt hunt follow-ups and recording debtor receipts
Manage payment plan back to UI SA
Arrange salaries and get approval
Monthly financial analysis including cash flow
Budget prep in collaboration with MD
VAT and Partner structure oversight
Weekly metrics and bi-weekly finance call
South Africa
Budget prep in collaboration with COO and CEO (Expense and Sales)
Assist with annual audit
Kenya
Debt management
Group
Consolidate data from all entities and generate reports (the required templates are metrics are )
Monthly finance meetings
Covering accounts and bookkeeping staff when they are on leave
Palladium expertise and training (on-board new staff and partners)
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- Five years’ experience working in accounts payable and receivable and general ledger
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong understanding of tax, VAT and cash flow computations
- Good understanding of the accounting implications of dealing with FOREX
- Advanced Excel skills preferable
- Experience with Palladium Accounting software advantageous
