Our client, a well-established fintech company based in Stellenbosch, is seeking an organised, analytical and detail-orientated Financial Accountant to join their team.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of the company’s accounting systems, policies, and procedures as well as supporting the company through the collection, processing, recording, reconciliation and reporting of financial data, verifying the validity, completeness, and accuracy of source documentation.

They will also maintain complete and proper records of revenue, expenditure, assets, and liabilities and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information. This position reports to the Financial Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Bringing accounting books to final trial balance stage
  • Accounting functions: capturing of source documentation (monthly invoicing, bank statement imports, supplier invoice capturing, debtors & creditors adjustments)
  • Preparing the reconciliation of accounting records to third party statements (debtors, creditors, bank)
  • Assistance with the debtors and creditors management process
  • Reviewing management accounts and reporting to the financial manager
  • Preparation of statutory returns (i.e. VAT)
  • Assisting with compliance on all relevant legislations
  • Assisting with preparation of monthly reports and reconciliations required by external funders
  • Ensuring good governance and adherence to various funder requirements
  • Ad hoc tasks as requested from management

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • Completed SAIPA/SAICA articles
  • PA(SA), AGA(SA) will be a distinct advantage
  • Advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Sage One Cloud Accounting)

Salary package on offer:

  • TCTC of up to R 420 000 per annum (depending on qualification and/or experience)
  • Cell allowance
  • Can work remotely when needed
  • Staff lunch provided
