The National Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of national sales and all its divisions, including the formulation of sales strategies, preparing a budget, planning and brand activation.

 The divisions within national sales are:

  • Private customers
  • Trade customers
  • Management of sales team in Western Cape and Gauteng
  • Tasting Room

The National Sales Manager needs to be an inspiring and effective team leadership, with strong market experience, a vast industry network and enjoys business development. An energetic and engaging leader, with a solid understanding of sales strategies, the ability to build strong and enduring trade relationships, a positive outlook and a tirelessly desire to succeed. This requires the person to be highly self-motivated, an excellent communicator and a good time manager.

The job will require frequent traveling, as well as attending numerous trade shows, events, dinners and other activities to support and build sales.

Job expectation:

  • Manage and grow Private Sales.
  • Achieve national sales targets set together with the owners.
  • Lead and grow a strong sales team across South Africa and manage the reps daily, assisting and guiding them to achieve sales.
  • Grow the national distribution footprint to (include KZN and Mpumalanga)
  • Help with input in the Tasting-room and how to get feet onto the farm.
  • Assist in building a strong Wine Club
  • Corporate business
  • Responsible for marketing and wine shows
  • In charge of promotions.
  • Go out into the trade, do on-con and off-con listing (focusing on on-con) Service and maintain current listing and gain new ones.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the wine market leaders such as Makro, Ultra liquors, Checkers, expand those.
  • Enter wine competitions.
  • Maintain constant communication with the farm, from the Cellar to the Tasting-room and office personal, to always be informed and able to share relevant information with the market. Equally share your market experience with the rest of the team.
  • Report to and be in communication with Owners
  • Produce a yearly marketing and expense budget.
  • Produce yearly sales targets for the trade and for Private Farm sales.
  • Create a price list and decided on annual increases (March) and inform customer of price updates.
  • Manage Saxenburg’s library stock sales.
  • Assist with international clients visiting the Farm.
  • Set up Webinars
  • Manage influencers.

Salary: R31’000 basic CTC + 3% - 5% commission on sales. Petrol card + Phone allowance

Prerequisite: The applicant must have the following:

  • At least 5 years experience working in the wine industry
  • Managerial experience
  • strong trade contacts
