We currently have a vacancy for a Laboratory Manager who will be responsible for management of all analytical services within the routine and satellite laboratories and to ensure that all services performed meet applicable standards and requirements (legal, regulatory and client).

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc degree (chemistry or microbiology) or any other relevant tertiary qualification
  • 3-5 Years’ experience in chemistry or biochemistry in the liquor or food industries
  • A minimum of 5 years’ management experience in a laboratory environment in the liquor or food industry
  • Experience in managing Laboratory Information Management Systems
  • Knowledge of quality control and quality systems would be advantageous
  • Computer literacy (MS Office / SAP)
  • Driver’s license (code EB)
  • Able to differentiate colours well

Job Summary:

  • To manage the integrated management systems in the laboratory
  • To manage the supply of the laboratory services as required by all KWV departments
  • Manage the laboratory OTIF as per agreed percentage
  • Manage execution of SLA with all clients
  • Maintain and manage laboratory information systems and equipment
  • Ensure the integrity of laboratory analyses e.g. by controlling intra and inter laboratory controls
  • Keep up to date with industry developments on product scientific and technical matters
  • Management of laboratory projects
  • Manage and maintain health and safety, as well as housekeeping within the laboratory
  • Perform regular internal conformance evaluations and reviews
  • Ensure the effective management of subordinates.
  • Managing the laboratory OPEX budget
