Division Manager: Logistics & wine sales coordinator based in Somerset West

A wine distribution company is looking for a division manager with logistics skills to oversee the incoming orders, invoicing and distribution of wines. This person will motivate and enable the existing team of wine Sales Reps and help them hit and exceed sales targets. The candidate will be a strong leader, with a good knowledge of wine, along with a natural flair for people management to get the best out of their team. We need a leader who will guide, support, coach and motivate their team to success. They will provide organisational support to assist with the administrative requirements needed for the business to deliver against the wine sales and exports divisions’ targets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Logistics (stock control, invoicing, stock movements)
  • Handle daily logistics for ease of flow, accuracy of invoicing and any outgoing orders.
  • ‘Weekly tea’ with accounting team and with logistics team.
  • Manage and oversee stock control.
  • Check orders delivered and received.
  • Manage the small warehouse team and stock control.
  • Implement processes and ensure the execution thereof.
  • Wine Sales Coordination
  • The suitable candidate will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of sales operations and business practices for sales systems and processes, for example, sales cycles, opportunity, territory, and pipeline management.
  • Accountable for the achievement of sales targets, evaluating, and developing processes that drive wine sales.
  • Coach and performance monitoring of sales representatives in wine and spirits through understanding of the category.
  • Meet with reps one-on-one weekly in person or via zoom to review performance, progress, and targets and the upcoming weeks plan.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with current and prospective clients and take calls to handle sales/generate invoices.
  • Work with marketing to team to deliver strategic sales plans that successfully achieve business objective.
  • Team Building
  • Work with all internal and external divisions and teams and will also take initiative in building peer support and strong internal business relationships with key management personnel with a view of enhancing sales efforts
  • Set a good example for the team. Work according to company culture and values, prioritise ruthlessly, use good communication, and deliver results effectively.
  • Liaise with other departments in the business to make sure that you and your team have what they need to produce results. (latest price and product info sheets etc)
  • Promo Stock Control Report
  • Monitor promo stock use per rep and keep report up to date. Send to management monthly.
  • Keep promotional merchandising and marketing material up to date & in stock.

5) General

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present strategy and results to staff members at every level of the organisation.


  • Daily stock and sales report.
  • Weekly reports: Targets by area by rep, approaches income and relevant
  • Managing sales reps weekly reports.
  • Weekly summary report across the board sent to management.

Required experience and education

  • 4+ years in wine sales or logistics management experience.
  • WSET 2+ years, preferable.
  • 5+ years in people management
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets in the wine sector
  • English first language, second language a plus.
  • Excellent writing capabilities for corporate correspondence
  • Degree preferable
  • Pastel (basic/proficient)
