Tasks and responsibilities

  • Accurately conducting technical checks and completing checklists.
  • Conducting inspections and safety checks on all farm equipment, infrastructure, tools, buildings and vehicles.
  • Maintenance and repairs of farm equipment.
  • Paying attention to detail and reporting all damages and deficiencies to Management.
  • Assist with making necessary repairs and adjustments to maintain all systems in proper working condition.
  • Conduct regular system inspections and perform trouble shooting exercise.
  • Assist with Workshop administration – tool/equipment sign in/out, documenting use of consumables, spares and tools.
  • Assisting with tools, equipment, consumables and spares inventory checks and accounting.
  • Taking care when using and storing equipment, tools and consumables to avoid injury, wastage and damage.
  • Reporting on spares and consumables required to complete tasks to the Maintenance Manager in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety standards at all times, following safe working practices and wearing correct Personal Protective equipment for the task/tools used, as directed by Management and per Workshop Safety training.
  • Safely using the appropriate tools in the correct manner for the task at hand, cleaning and returning the tools/equipment to the correct storage space in the workshop.
  • Securing and safekeeping of all workshop tools and equipment at all times.
  • Immediately reporting any tool/equipment deficiencies and damages to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Practical plumbing, minor electrical (only when directed), painting and decorating, cement works, building, paving, carpentry, mechanical repairs and installations, landscaping, tiling, welding, specialised cleaning and other maintenance related tasks as directed by Management. 
  • Acting as safety representative, monitoring and advising colleagues on correctly and safely operating equipment, tools and infrastructure.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own transport
  • Must have a cellphone
  • Must be able to work weekends, public holidays ( might have to be on call after hours)
  • Sober habits
  • Must be technical minded with practical plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, mechanical and other maintenance related skills
