Blaauwklippen Wine Estate is looking for an experienced General Manager who will be responsible for the growth of our Farm Shop and Family Market by enhancing the customer experience, increasing visitors to the farm, and spearheading new opportunities for financial growth in these divisions.

This ideal candidate must be self-motivated, hard-working, enthusiastic, and see the big picture whilst implementing fit-for-purpose strategies and tactics to optimise hospitality operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Manage all aspects of the Farm Shop & Deli, Family Market, Bike Track and Outdoor Experience Centre and related events and activations
  • Manage the hospitality staff component; interview, select, hire, and train staff members according to established criteria, manage staff operations and schedules to ensure that all staff members adhere to them
  • Actively recruit new producers and vendors to expand the variety of retail products for sale - both on the farm and online
  • Ensure that all applicable licenses, permits, and insurances are filed with relevant agencies, and undertake regular risk-assessments of operations and preparing an annual management report
  • Prepare and analyse all monthly, quarterly, and yearly hospitality sales reports and stock controls
  • Develop and manage the department’s budget and control expenditures to budgetary requirements
  • Collaborate closely with management and the communications team to develop branded digital content and targeted messaging
  • Set internal expectations to create a self-motivated culture of success and grow sales
  • Expand the non-wine retail offering of the Wine Estate
  • Lead the development of sales and marketing strategies to promote the destination
  • Identify and evaluate potential growth opportunities
  • Sustain and develop the supplier and customer value chain through a reputation for quality and diversity

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Minimum 4 years senior hospitality management experience
  • Must have managed a large staff component in the hospitality sector
  • Extensive financial management experience in hospitality – reporting, budgeting, stock control and reconciliation
  • Retail experience
