Our Client, a medium sized Chocolate Manufacturer in the Boland Area is looking for a vibrant, innovative and skilled Food Technologist to join their team.

The Candidate will be responsible for quality control, production management and new product development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Management of the food safety system FSSC 22000 Version 4:
  • Internal audits
  • Supplier approval (including sourcing of raw materials that align to company requirements)
  • Allergen management and verification
  • Traceability for production processes
  • Maintenance of checklists and records
  • Staff training
  • Management of suppliers and subcontractors
  1. Management of IBL (International Britannia ERM) system
  2. Recipe formulation and technical assistance for chocolate production processes including quality control.
  3. Retail customer liaison and supplier liaison.
  4. Management of UTZ cocoa bean sustainability program and Organic certifications (which includes mass balance and traceability).
  5. Management of Halaal certification – audits are performed quarterly and unannounced.
  6. Aligning product labelling requirements to local and international standards (nutritional, allergen warnings, barcodes etc).
  7. Management and allocation of barcodes for retail products.
  8. Applications for health certificates for export purposes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Relevant degree or diploma in Food Science/ Food Technology
  2. Good understanding of FSSC 22000 Version 4 and IBL in a confectionary environment
  3. +5 years’ experience in a similar role
